Marks & Spencer Suspends Online Orders Amid Ongoing Cybersecurity Incident
M&S pauses online orders due to a cyber incident, but stores remain open and browsing is still available online.

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has temporarily paused all orders via its website and mobile apps as part of its ongoing response to a cybersecurity incident. The retail giant confirmed the measure was taken as a precaution while its team, supported by leading cybersecurity experts, works to restore normal service.
Customers can still browse the full product range online, and all M&S stores remain open for in-person shopping.
In a statement, the M&S team said:
"As part of our proactive management of a cyber incident, we have made the decision to pause taking orders via our M&S.com websites and apps. Our product range remains available to browse online. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience. Our stores are open to welcome customers."
The company first acknowledged the incident earlier this week, assuring customers that there was no need for them to take any action. That guidance remains unchanged, with M&S confirming they will provide updates if the situation evolves.
The M&S team added:
"We informed customers on Tuesday that there was no need for them to take any action. That remains the case, and if the situation changes we will let them know."
Efforts to resume online and app-based ordering are ongoing, with internal teams working around the clock.
"Our experienced team – supported by leading cyber experts – is working extremely hard to restart online and app shopping," the statement continued.
The company expressed gratitude to its customers, staff and partners for their understanding and support during the disruption.
At this stage, M&S has not confirmed whether its operations in Ireland have been impacted. The retailer continues to investigate the incident and is working closely with cybersecurity professionals to identify and address any potential risks.
