Man Due in Cork District Court After Garda Assaulted on Patrick Street
Man in his 30s due in Cork District Court today after Garda assaulted on Patrick Street during patrol on Monday evening.
A man in his 30s is due before Cork District Court this morning after assaulting a member of An Garda Síochána during a high visibility patrol on Patrick Street on Monday evening.
Gardaí were on high visibility patrol on Patrick Street, Cork, on Monday evening, 6 July 2026, when they stopped and spoke to a man.
During the course of the interaction, the man, aged in his 30s, became violent and assaulted a member of An Garda Síochána.
The Garda member received medical treatment at hospital and is currently off duty.
The man was arrested and detained at a Garda station in Cork city. He has since been charged in relation to the assault and is due to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Tuesday 7 July 2026, at 10.30am.
