Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision Near Cork Border

A motorcyclist in his 50s has died following a single-vehicle collision on the R519 at Callahow, Dromcollogher, Co. Limerick, close to the Cork county boundary. The incident occurred at approximately 7:00pm on Sunday evening, 12th October 2025.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been transferred to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The R519 remains closed this morning as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place, affecting traffic movements between Cork and Limerick in the area.

Dromcollogher is situated near the border between Cork and Limerick, with the collision location on a route frequently used by motorists travelling between the two counties.

An Garda Síochána are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who travelled through the area between 6:15pm and 7:15pm on Sunday evening.

Road users who may have dashcam or other camera footage from this timeframe are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
