Man Dies After Car Found in River Bride Near Conna

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the Conna Road R628, Co. Cork, which occurred between Friday 19 December and Saturday 20 December 2025.

Emergency services were alerted to a car in the water of the River Bride, close to the Conna Road R628, shortly before 10:00am on Saturday.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man's body was removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the Conna Road R628 between 10:00pm on Friday 19 December and 10:00am on Saturday 20 December are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
