Gardaí are investigating a serious incident near Knapps Square in Cork city this evening, Monday 16 March 2026, with Paul Byrne reporting that a man has been fatally stabbed.

Journalist Paul Byrne subsequently reported on X that Gardaí are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man believed to be in his late 30s at an apartment close to Cork Opera House.
