Man Arrested Following Aggravated Burglary in Mayfield

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s following an aggravated burglary at a residential property in Mayfield in the early hours of this morning, with one occupant requiring hospital treatment for injuries sustained during the incident.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:40am this morning, Monday 11th August 2025, when three men armed with implements entered a residence in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield, Cork City.

The intruders confronted the occupants of the property before fleeing the scene. Gardaí on patrol in the area responded immediately to the incident.

One man, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the Cork area.

During the confrontation, one of the occupants, also a man in his 30s, sustained injuries and was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

A technical examination of the scene has been conducted by Gardaí as part of their investigation into the incident.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with information about the burglary to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with any road users or pedestrians who were in the Lagan Grove area of Mayfield between midnight on Sunday 10th August and 1:00am on Monday 11th August.

Anyone who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from this timeframe is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
