Man Arrested as Gardaí Seize €114,200 of Cannabis in Cork and Waterford Operation

A man in his 50s is being held in Cork City following the seizure of suspected cannabis herb valued at €114,200 during coordinated searches across Co. Cork and Co. Waterford on Wednesday.

The operation, carried out by Gardaí from the Waterford County Drug Unit and Cork City Drug Unit on 8 October, forms part of ongoing investigations targeting an organised crime group operating across the Eastern and Southern Regions.

Officers searched one vehicle and two residences in the two counties, leading to the significant drugs haul. The suspect was arrested and brought to a Garda station in Cork City, where he remains detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The seized drugs have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, with investigations continuing.

The joint operation highlights continued Garda efforts to disrupt organised crime networks operating across Munster and the wider Southern Region.
