Major Water Main Burst Disrupts Supply Across North Cork
Water main burst on N73 between Kildorrery and Mitchelstown. Supply disruptions possible in north Cork areas. Repairs expected by 6pm.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a significant burst on the N73 between Kildorrery and Mitchelstown, with the unplanned outage potentially causing supply disruptions to customers across north Cork.
The burst in Glenahulla may affect customers served by the Johnstown reservoir, including the catchment regions of Mitchelstown, Glenahulla, Glanworth, Kildorrery and surrounding areas in county Cork.
Michael Bell, Uisce Éireann:
"We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue."
Mr Bell confirmed that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply to customers, with works expected to be completed by 6pm this evening.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Registration for vulnerable customer status is available through the utility's website.
Uisce Éireann is providing updates through multiple channels, including its website at water.ie, Twitter accounts @IWCare and @IrishWater, and its 24/7 customer care helpline at 1800 278 278. The utility also offers a free text alert service, which customers can register for using their Eircode and mobile number at the Text Updates page on water.ie.
