M8 Southbound Lane Closures Continue Near Fermoy Until Friday Morning

Motorists travelling southbound on the M8 are advised that roadworks between Junction 16 Rathcormac and the toll plaza will continue until approximately 4am on Friday, 16 January.

DirectRoute Fermoy confirmed this evening that the hard shoulder and Lane 1 remain closed southbound as crews make good progress on the works.

The closures, which affect the stretch between Junction 16 at Rathcormac and the M8 toll plaza, are expected to remain in place for another day and a half.

Drivers are urged to slow down on approach to the roadworks, merge in good time, and avoid waiting until the last moment to change lanes.

The works represent ongoing maintenance on one of Munster's busiest motorway corridors, with the M8 serving as the primary route between Cork and Dublin.

Traffic using the southbound carriageway should allow extra time for their journeys and exercise caution when approaching the affected area.
