M8 Roadworks Between Rathcormac and Toll Plaza Starting Tonight

Motorists travelling southbound on the M8 between Junction 16 Rathcormac and the Toll Plaza should expect lane restrictions from tonight until the early hours of Friday 16 January.

DirectRoute Fermoy has announced that the hard shoulder and Lane 1 will be closed southbound on the M8 between J16 Rathcormac and the Toll Plaza. The works are scheduled to start tonight, Sunday 11 January, and continue until approximately 4am on Friday 16 January.

The roadworks will affect the southbound carriageway only, with the hard shoulder and inside lane closed to facilitate the works. Drivers are being urged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during the closure period.

DirectRoute Fermoy issued safety advice for motorists approaching the works:

"Please slow down on approach, merge in time, don't wait until it's too late!"

Drivers using the M8 southbound between Rathcormac and the Toll Plaza over the coming days should expect some disruption and are advised to drive with extra caution through the roadworks area, merging safely into available lanes well before reaching the closure point.
