M7 Overnight Closures and M8 Daytime Closures Affect Cork to Dublin Journeys
M7 overnight closures J21 to J22 from 13 to 17 October, plus M8 southbound daytime closures J4 to J5 until 13 November. Allow extra time on Cork-Dublin trips.
Motorists travelling between Cork and Dublin face a run of road closures on the M7 and M8 over the coming weeks. Overnight closures on the M7 begin tonight, while daytime closures on the M8 southbound have been extended into November.
On the M7, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has announced an eastbound closure between J21 Borris-in-Ossory and J22 Roscrea. It will run from 19:00 to 06:00 nightly, from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 October, for traffic heading towards Dublin.
The westbound carriageway will then close between the same junctions, again from 19:00 to 06:00 nightly. That closure runs from Thursday 15 to Saturday 17 October, affecting traffic heading towards Cork and the M8. TII has not specified the signed diversion routes, so drivers should check TII Traffic before setting out.
Further south, the M8 southbound closures between J4 Urlingford and J5 Twomileborris will take place from 08:00 to 18:00 on the following dates:
- 12 to 16
- 19 to 23
- and 26 to 30 October
Then 1 to 6 and 8 to 13 November.
These recurring daytime closures will affect Cork to Dublin journeys, so it is worth allowing additional time and checking the live route before you travel.
