Marks & Spencer (M&S) has confirmed it is currently managing a cybersecurity incident, which prompted temporary operational changes in some of its stores over recent days. While the exact nature of the incident has not been disclosed, M&S has assured customers that their website and mobile app remain fully functional and that no action is required by the public at this time.

Stuart Machin, Chief Executive of Marks & Spencer, issued a statement to customers:

"I'm writing to you to let you know that over the last few days M&S has been managing a cyber incident. To protect you and the business, it was necessary to temporarily make some small changes to our store operations, and I am sincerely sorry if you experienced any inconvenience.

Importantly, our stores remain open, and our website and App are operating as normal. There is no need for you to take any action at this time and if the situation changes, we will let you know.

There may be some limited delays to your Click and Collect order, which we are working hard to resolve.

I know how much our customers trust M&S, and that trust is incredibly precious to us. We have been working hard with the best experts to manage this, and I want to thank them and my colleagues for their hard work.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you for shopping with us and for your continuous support. We really appreciate it."

At present, it is unknown whether M&S operations in Ireland have been directly affected by the cyber incident. The retailer has not issued any Ireland-specific updates.

M&S continues to work alongside cybersecurity specialists to investigate and resolve the issue and has reiterated its commitment to keeping customers informed should the situation evolve.
