Lurriga Road In Skibbereen To Close For Almost Four Weeks
Diversion via the R593 Mill Road and N71.
Lurriga Road in Skibbereen will be closed around the clock for almost four weeks from the end of this month to allow for the installation of a pumping chamber.
The L4215 will be closed continuously from 12.01am on Monday 31 August 2026 until 11.59pm on Friday 25 September 2026, a period of 26 days, according to a Cork County Council road alert.
Because the closure is continuous rather than a daytime restriction, the road will be shut at night as well as during the day for the full duration of the works.
Traffic will be diverted via the L42151, the R593 Mill Road and the N71. The same route will operate in reverse for traffic travelling in the opposite direction.
Local access will be maintained while the closure is in place.
The alert, published on 13 August 2026, states that the closure is to facilitate the installation of a pumping chamber. It is listed on the Cork County Council alerts page, where a map of the affected road is also available.
With the closure spanning the end of August and most of September, drivers who use Lurriga Road regularly should plan for the diversion for the best part of a month rather than a short spell.
