Lord Mayor Receives New Electric Ford Capri as 2026 Mayoral Car
Ford provides Lord Mayor with new electric Capri for 2026 duties, continuing 80+ year tradition. Car will be returned to Ford at year's end.
The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Fergal Dennehy, was presented today with a fully electric Ford Capri Premium as his official 2026 Mayoral car, marking the fifth consecutive year that an electric vehicle has supported the office's duties.
The presentation took place today, 6th January, with John Manning, Market Lead of Henry Ford & Son Ltd., handing over the keys to the Lord Mayor. The partnership between Ford and Cork City Council, which has provided the Mayoral car for over 80 years, continues its tradition whilst embracing sustainable transport.
Cllr. Fergal Dennehy, Lord Mayor of Cork, said:

This tradition, spanning over 80 years, highlights the fantastic partnership between Ford and Cork City Council. As a local authority, we are working to promote sustainable practices throughout Cork. As first citizen, I am delighted to continue to lead by example by using this beautiful, fully electric model."
The Ford Capri Premium Electric Extended Spec boasts an impressive range of 627 km on a single charge, with a rapid charging time of just 28 minutes, making it well-suited for the Lord Mayor's extensive duties across the city and county.
