Lidl Trolley Dash Raises Over €28,000 in Cork for Family Carers Ireland
Cork shoppers raised over €28,000 for Family Carers Ireland through Lidl's Trolley Dash, with 22 winners bagging free festive treats across the county.
Cork shoppers have helped raise more than €28,000 for Family Carers Ireland through Lidl's festive Trolley Dash fundraiser, contributing to a nationwide total exceeding €272,000. Twenty-two lucky winners across Cork County bagged trolleys full of festive treats for free whilst supporting a vital cause.
Lidl Ireland's annual Trolley Dash fundraiser has proven hugely popular with shoppers across Ireland, with 100% of ticket sale proceeds supporting family carers and young carers throughout the country. The initiative saw one winner selected in each of Lidl's 190 stores nationwide, who then completed a two-minute supermarket sweep-style dash to fill their trolleys with festive goods.
Among the Cork winners was Aniko Megyeri from Carrigaline, who took home over €376 worth of Lidl's award-winning Deluxe festive food and treats from the Carrigaline store. She was joined by her partner Janos Kollar and their son Max, aged five, for the trolley dash.
The total fundraising figure of €272,060 represents a significant contribution to Family Carers Ireland's essential work supporting carers and their families across the country.
Eimear O'Sullivan, Corporate Affairs Director at Lidl Ireland:
"We are absolutely delighted by the overwhelming generosity of our customers this year. The Lidl Trolley Dash is a much-loved festive tradition, and to see a total of €272,060 raised is simply incredible. 100% of these crucial funds will directly support the vital work of Family Carers Ireland, making a tangible difference to carers and their families right across the country."
Catherine Cox, Head of Communications and Policy at Family Carers Ireland:
"The support from Lidl customers through the Trolley Dash has been phenomenal. This incredible donation is more than just a number; it will help deliver vital supports and services to family carers across Ireland who give so much in caring for their loved ones. These funds will allow us to expand our vital practical and emotional supports, and services, ensuring that the incredible work done by family carers is supported and valued."
The Trolley Dash initiative forms part of Lidl's commitment to corporate social responsibility, with all proceeds allocated immediately to Family Carers Ireland. The funds will enable the charity to continue providing essential services, support and advocacy for family carers in every community.
Earlier in 2025, Lidl Ireland customers and colleagues raised nearly €200,000 through the inaugural Heart of Gold fundraiser in June. The campaign saw Heart of Gold pins sold in stores nationwide for €2 each, with additional funds raised through in-store spinathons.
