A temporary road closure will be in place on Knockpogue Avenue on Cork's northside from Wednesday, 8 July 2026, as part of the Knockpogue Avenue and Knockfree Avenue Active Travel Improvement Scheme. Northbound Bus Éireann services on Routes 201 and 203 will be diverted for the duration of the works.
Cork City Council has confirmed that Knockpogue Avenue will be closed to public traffic to facilitate the works. The closure runs from its junction with Farranferris Avenue to its junction with the Fair Hill Roundabout.
The road will be closed from 7am on Wednesday, 8 July 2026 until 9pm on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.
Two northbound Bus Éireann services will be affected: Route 201 to CUH and Route 203 to Parklands. During the closure, these services will not serve the stops at 211721 Farranree Church, 242421 Scoil Íosagáin, and 242431 Upper Fairhill. Stop 242441 Closes Road will also be out of service on Route 203 only.
Temporary bus stops will be available on Popham's Road, before its junction with Knockpogue Avenue, and on Fairfield Avenue, after its junction with Liam Healy Road.
The southbound services will remain unaffected.
Passengers using the affected northbound services should plan ahead and allow additional time during the three week closure. Further details are available on the Bus Éireann website and the TFI Live App.
