Kennedy Quay to Close for European Maritime Day Celebrations in Cork

Cork City Council has announced a temporary road closure affecting Kennedy Quay to facilitate the upcoming European Maritime Day's to Play event. The closure will be in effect from 17th May to 27th May 2025.

The section of Kennedy Quay between Victoria Road Junction and Furlong Street will be completely closed to vehicular traffic during this period. The closure is necessary to prepare for and host the European Maritime Day's to Play event, which will take place on 23rd and 24th May.

Alternative Access Routes

For those needing to access Kennedy Quay below Furlong Street, vehicle access will be maintained via Marina Walk and Mill Street throughout the closure period.

Pedestrians wishing to visit Marina Market during this time should note that access will be available via Centre Park Road.

The European Maritime Day's to Play is set to be a significant event for Cork city, with the road closure allowing for safe setup, operation and breakdown of event infrastructure.

Local residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys accordingly during this period to avoid disruption.
