Cork city is gearing up for one of its most cherished annual traditions, with the St. Patrick's Day Parade set to take place on Monday, 17 March 2026, and Irish Guide Dogs announced as this year's Grand Marshal.

Cork City Council has confirmed that the parade will step off at 1pm, travelling from South Mall to Merchants Quay, with the theme for 2026 chosen as Marsh, Myth & Magic, a fitting nod to Cork's ancient landscape and rich folklore.

More than 3,000 participants are expected to take part, including lively Irish and international bands, alongside stunning performances from Cork Community Artlink, Cork Puppetry Company, and Spraoi. The event promises the full spectrum of Cork community life, from sporting groups and dance schools to new communities and long-established brass bands, with special guests from around the world joining in the celebration.

The selection of Irish Guide Dogs as Grand Marshal has been warmly welcomed, shining a spotlight on the vital work carried out by the charity across Cork and Ireland.

For those who cannot make it to the city in person, a live stream will be available on Cork City TV from 12:45, with parade commentary also available online.

Accessibility has been prioritised this year. Irish Sign Language interpretation will be provided near the Grandstand on St. Patrick's Street, close to the statue of Fr. Matthew. A dedicated zone for wheelchair users, less mobile visitors, and those who may need additional space will be available outside Dunnes Stores on St. Patrick's Street; no registration is required, though spaces are limited and early arrival is recommended. AsIAm has also developed a Social Story for those who may find it helpful when attending a parade, available on their website.

Road closures and bus diversions will be in place across the city centre on parade day. Full details on parking restrictions, road closures, and bus diversions are available from Cork City Council ahead of the event.
