Cork City Council has officially gone out to tender for the long-awaited upgrade of Innishmore Playground in Ballincollig, with works expected to be completed by late November or early December this year.
The popular playground, which has served families in the Ballincollig area for years, will undergo a comprehensive upgrade and reinstatement following the securing of over €85,000 in funding several months ago. The tender process marks a significant milestone in bringing the much-loved community facility back to its full potential.
Councillor Colm Kelleher confirmed the progress this morning:
"A number of months ago, I was delighted, along with my party colleagues, to secure over €85,000 in funding for the upgrade and reinstatement of the much-loved Inishmore Playground."
The councillor, who has been actively involved in securing the funding, expressed his enthusiasm about the project moving forward:
"Today, I'm thrilled to share that Cork City Council has officially gone out to tender for the works, marking a major step forward for the project."
Following discussions with council executives this morning, the timeline for completion has been outlined. If the tender process proceeds smoothly, families in Ballincollig can expect to see the upgraded playground ready for use before the Christmas season, providing a welcome boost to local amenities during the winter months.
Councillor Kelleher added:
"Following an update from the executive this morning, I've been advised that, all going to plan, the upgrade works should be completed by late November or early December."
