⚠️ Ice Risk on Cork Roads This Morning

Cork Safety Alerts

18 Oct 2026 — 1 min read

The CSA HQ Weather Station recorded an air temperature of 3.0°C this morning. Road surfaces can freeze when the air is a few degrees above zero, especially on higher, shaded and untreated roads. Please take care, as ice may be present.

Driving tips for icy conditions:

Reduce your speed and leave extra braking distance
Avoid sudden braking, acceleration or steering
Watch for shaded areas, where ice lingers longest
Bridges and overpasses freeze before other roads
If you skid, steer gently into the skid and don't brake hard

Air temperature from the CSA HQ Weather Station, recorded at 06:21 on 18 October 2026. Roads on higher, inland and shaded routes are often colder than the air temperature suggests.
