Iarnród Éireann has announced a significant recruitment campaign for train drivers across Ireland, with roles available for Intercity, Commuter, and DART services as the company prepares for major network expansion.
The national rail operator is establishing a panel to recruit drivers for positions based throughout the country, with particular encouragement for women to apply. Recent trainee classes have shown increasing female participation, reflecting the company's commitment to diversity.

The recruitment drive comes as Iarnród Éireann prepares to implement an ambitious investment programme funded by the Department of Transport through the National Transport Authority under the National Development Plan.
The investment package includes a record fleet expansion, with 285 new electric and battery-electric DART carriages on order, entering service from next year. A new Enterprise fleet is also planned for the Dublin to Belfast line.
Infrastructure developments under the DART+ Programme have received planning approval to treble electrification and transform the capacity of Greater Dublin Area rail services. This includes extending the DART to Maynooth, M3 Parkway, Drogheda, and Hazelhatch.
Work continues on expanding the Cork Area Commuter Rail network, with plans also in place for capacity expansion on Galway and Limerick routes.
Mary Considine, Chief Executive of Iarnród Éireann:
