HSE Statement: Health Services on Alert as Fuel Supply Issue Hits Cork and Kerry

The HSE South West has activated contingency plans in response to an emerging fuel supply issue with the potential to disrupt health services across Cork and Kerry.

Senior management teams are maintaining close operational oversight to ensure patient and staff safety. Critical services including emergency care, urgent patient transport, and time-sensitive treatments such as dialysis, oncology, complex paediatric cases, bowel care, and urgent care will be prioritised.

Services have been directed to review staffing, transport, supplies, and discharge arrangements to minimise disruption. Non-urgent activity may be deferred where necessary.

HSE South West is working closely with national colleagues and relevant agencies to monitor the situation. Anyone attending an appointment who is concerned about arriving late or missing it is advised to contact the service directly.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
