Hot and Sunny Weekend Ahead for Cork With Temperatures of Up to 29 Degrees
Hot and sunny weekend ahead for Cork with highs of up to 29 degrees, though sea fog may affect southern coasts at times.
Cork is set for a hot and largely dry weekend, with Met Éireann forecasting sunshine and temperatures of up to 29 degrees between today, Friday 10 July, and Monday 13 July. Both the pollen count and the solar UV index are rated high for Friday and Saturday.
Friday 10 July
Met Éireann's Munster forecast, issued at 5:00am this morning, describes a very warm or hot day, dry with hazy sunny spells, although sea fog may encroach along southern coasts at times. Highest temperatures of 22 to 29 degrees are expected, highest in the south and east of the province, in light, occasionally moderate north or northeast breezes.
Forecast charts point to highs in the mid to high twenties for Cork City, in line with that range, and suggest the sea fog could drift into Cork Harbour and other exposed southern coastal districts.
Tonight will be mostly dry with clear spells, though a few showers may develop. Temperatures will not fall below 13 to 17 degrees.
Saturday 11 July
Saturday will be dry and sunny for most, with just the odd shower possible at times. Highest temperatures of 23 to 28 degrees are forecast generally, in light to moderate northerly winds. Saturday night will be dry with long clear spells for most, and temperatures will not fall below 13 to 18 degrees.
Sunday 12 July
Sunday will bring more dry, sunny weather for most, although a few stray showers are possible. Highest temperatures of 22 to 29 degrees are expected, coolest for eastern coasts, with mostly moderate easterly winds developing. Sunday night will be dry and largely clear but very mild and muggy, with temperatures not falling below 13 to 19 degrees.
Monday 13 July
Monday will be dry and sunny, with the sunshine turning hazy from the south later. Some heavier showers may clip southern coastal areas in the evening. Highest temperatures of 20 to 28 degrees are forecast generally, coolest again near eastern coasts, in light to moderate easterly breezes.
High UV and Pollen
Met Éireann has rated both the solar UV index and the pollen count as high for Friday and Saturday, so sun protection is advisable and hay fever sufferers may notice symptoms.
Looking Ahead
Tuesday looks largely dry and sunny, though a few showers cannot be ruled out in the south and east, with highs of 20 to 28 degrees, warmest in the southwest. The warm spell is then set to peak in midweek, with Met Éireann indicating very warm or hot conditions for Wednesday and Thursday and temperatures reaching the low 30s locally. Some thundery showers are possible, and temperatures will likely fall back closer to average for next Friday and the weekend.
