Glantane Water Network Upgraded Following 850-Metre Pipe Replacement
Glantane water mains upgrade complete: 850m of burst-prone pipes replaced, bringing more reliable supply to North Cork village.

- Uisce Éireann has completed essential infrastructure works in the North Cork village, addressing frequent burst issues and improving supply reliability for local residents.
Residents in Glantane can look forward to fewer water disruptions following the successful replacement of 850 metres of ageing water mains in the village. The upgrade, completed as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, targets pipes that were previously prone to frequent bursts, causing supply interruptions for the local community.
The infrastructure improvement promises to deliver a more reliable water service to Glantane households, with reduced leaks, fewer maintenance callouts, and improved overall resilience of the local water network.
Jack Cronin, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann:
"This upgrade represents a key investment in the long-term sustainability of Glantane's water network. Replacing these outdated pipes will substantially reduce the risk of disruptions and enhance the reliability of the water supply, ensuring that the community can depend on a more robust service moving forward. We would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and patience as we carried out these essential works."
The project was delivered by contractor Ward and Burke on behalf of Uisce Éireann. While the main pipe replacement is now complete, permanent road surface reinstatement works will follow in due course, carried out in partnership with Cork County Council.
The Glantane upgrade forms part of Uisce Éireann's wider commitment to reducing water leakage across the national network. The utility company continues to encourage public participation in identifying leaks, with reports accepted via their 24-hour helpline on 1800 278 278 or through their online reporting system.
Local residents can also sign up for Uisce Éireann's free text alert service, which provides real-time updates on water supply issues specific to their area by registering with their Eircode and mobile number on the company's website.
