Glanmire Water Supply Restored After Significant Burst Repair
Glanmire water restored after burst repair; tankers remain at Glen Richmond & Richmond estates as precaution.

Uisce Éireann has successfully repaired a major water burst in Glanmire, with supply now returning to affected customers in Glen Richmond Estate and Richmond Estate, though alternative water tankers remain available as a precaution.
The unplanned outage, which disrupted water services earlier today, prompted crews to work swiftly to restore normal supply to the affected estates. While water is now flowing back through the network, Uisce Éireann has maintained the temporary water tankers at both locations to ensure residents have continuous access during the restoration period.
Customers collecting water from the tankers are advised to bring their own containers and, following HSE guidelines, should boil the water before drinking or using it for food preparation as a precautionary measure.
John Sheahan, Uisce Éireann:
"Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned outage such as this burst and, we worked as quickly as we could to restore normal supply."
The utility company expects normal water pressure to return within two to three hours for most customers, though residents living at higher elevations or at the furthest points of the network may experience a longer wait as the system fully recharges.
This incident highlights the importance of Uisce Éireann's vulnerable customer register, which ensures direct communication to those with special needs during water outages lasting more than four hours. Residents can register themselves or nominate an alternative contact through the company's Vulnerable Customers page.
For future updates, Glanmire residents can sign up for Uisce Éireann's free text alert service by providing their Eircode and mobile number on the Water Service Updates page. The company maintains round-the-clock customer support through their helpline at 1800 278 278, alongside updates on their website and social media channels.
The swift response to today's burst demonstrates the utility's commitment to minimising disruption, though the retention of water tankers shows a prudent approach to ensuring no resident goes without this essential service during the restoration process.
