Gardaí Target Speeding on Mardyke Walk After Morning Complaints
Checkpoint follows Safety Forum concerns. Speed limit is 30km/h

Cork Gardaí conducted a speed checkpoint on the Mardyke Walk this morning following multiple complaints about drivers exceeding the 30km/h limit during the morning rush.
The enforcement action came after concerns were raised at a recent Safety Forum Meeting about motorists speeding along the popular route whilst heading to the gym, work or school.
An Garda Síochána Cork shared the update on social media this afternoon, reminding drivers to keep their speed for the treadmill rather than the road.
The Mardyke Walk, a busy thoroughfare, operates under a 30km/h speed limit. The morning checkpoint targeted the peak time when pedestrian traffic is heaviest, with students, gym-goers and commuters all sharing the road.
Gardaí confirmed they will continue to monitor the area following the complaints received through the Safety Forum.
Motorists are reminded that the 30km/h limit remains in force along the entire stretch of the Mardyke Walk.
