Gardaí Seize Drugs, Cash and Weapons in Cork City Search Operation

Gardaí seized suspected drugs, cash and weapons, while animal welfare officers removed ten dogs, a pony and a horse, during a high-impact search operation across six properties in Mahon, Cork city, on Wednesday 2 September 2026.

Gardaí attached to Cork City Garda Division carried out the search operation targeting criminal activity in Cork city on Wednesday 2 September 2026.

The operation involved a range of Garda units, including the Armed Support Unit, the Dog Unit, the Divisional Search Unit, Serious Crime Investigation Units, Community Engagement, Roads Policing, and Scenes of Crime Units.

The multi-agency operation also involved Gardaí working alongside partner agencies including Revenue, the Department of Social Protection, and the NSPCA.

Investigating Gardaí conducted searches of six properties in the Mahon area of Cork city.

During the searches, Gardaí seized €6,000 in cash, €1,000 worth of suspected heroin, and €600 worth of suspected crack cocaine.

Gardaí also seized electric scramblers, e-scooters, slash hooks, hammers, baseball bats, machetes, swords, slingshots, and two caravans.

The NSPCA seized ten dogs, one pony, and one horse. All of the animals will be examined by a veterinarian in due course.

A male, aged in his 20s, was arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 in a Garda station in the Southern Region.

Investigations are ongoing.
