Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses Following Fatal Incident in Hollyhill
Man in 50s arrested. Witness appeal for anyone in area 3:30-4:30am.
Gardaí are investigating a fatal incident in Hollyville, Hollyhill, Cork City, following a disturbance in the early hours of this morning that left a man in his 30s dead and another man arrested.
Emergency services attended the scene at Hollyville, Hollyhill shortly after 4:30am on Sunday, 16th November 2025, following reports of a disturbance involving two individuals.
A man aged in his 30s was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
The scene remains preserved for technical examination.
A second man, aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in County Cork.
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation from the incident room at Gurranabraher Garda Station. A Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned to support the family of the deceased.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Hollyville, Hollyhill between 3:30am and 4:30am this morning to come forward. Anyone with camera footage, including dashcam recordings from the area during this timeframe, is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
