A man in his 30s has died following collision between a jeep and motorcycle on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea. Road closed, diversions in place.

Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses Following Fatal Collision at Ballyhea

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork on Saturday 4th July 2026.

The collision involved a jeep and a motorcycle and occurred at approximately 8:00pm.

An adult male driver of a motorcycle, aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body has been conveyed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.

The coroner has been notified.

An adult male driver of a jeep, aged in his 80s, was conveyed to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.

The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
