A man in his 40s is being treated for serious injuries at Cork University Hospital following an alleged assault on Quaker Street in Cork City last night.

Gardaí in Anglesea Street are appealing for witnesses after the incident, which occurred at approximately 10pm on Monday, 6th October 2025.

Emergency services attended the scene on Quaker Street following reports of the assault. The injured man was immediately conveyed to Cork University Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination by Garda forensic teams. Quaker Street remains closed this morning, with local diversions in place. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area and to follow diversion signage.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and Gardaí have confirmed that no further information is available at this time.

Anglesea Street Garda Station is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who was in the Quaker Street area around 10pm on Monday night to come forward.
