Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses After Fatal Collision on R568 at Ballineen
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 50s died in a collision with a lorry on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen.
A woman in her 50s has died following a collision between a car and a lorry on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen, County Cork, with the road closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic examination.
The collision occurred at approximately 3pm on Sunday 12 July 2026. The female driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The male driver of the lorry, aged in his 50s, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The road remains closed with local diversions in place as Gardaí conduct a forensic collision examination.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling on the R568 at Manch East, Ballineen between 2.30pm and 3pm on Sunday 12 July 2026 to come forward. Anyone with camera footage from that time and location, including dash cam or mobile phone recordings, is asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
