Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses After Critical Pedestrian Injury in Macroom
Gardaí appeal for Macroom crash witnesses after man critically injured in early morning collision.

A man in his 30s remains in critical condition at Cork University Hospital following a serious collision with a car on the R582 at Gurteenroe, Macroom, in the early hours of this morning.
The incident occurred shortly after 2am on Sunday, 10th August 2025, when Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision between a car and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was discovered at the scene with serious injuries and received immediate medical treatment before being transported to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The occupants of the car involved in the incident did not require immediate medical attention. Gardaí preserved the scene for a technical examination, which has since been completed, and the road has reopened to traffic.
Investigating Gardaí are now appealing to the public for assistance in their enquiries. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who was travelling on the Millstreet Road in the Macroom area between 1am and 2:15am this morning and may have witnessed the incident or the movements of either the pedestrian or vehicle beforehand.
Road users who have camera footage, including dash cam recordings, from the area during this timeframe are being asked to make this material available to Gardaí as it may prove crucial to the investigation.
