Gardaí and Fire Brigade Bring Summer Smiles to Midleton CBS Students
Midleton CBS students enjoy special visit from Gardaí and fire brigade with demos, dog unit and ice cream treats.

Local emergency services brought excitement to Midleton CBS yesterday as An Garda Síochána's Cork North East Community Engagement Unit and Midleton Fire Brigade showcased their vehicles and equipment to students participating in the East Cork Parents and Friends summer programme.
The special visit featured demonstrations from various units, including the popular Garda dog unit, giving young people an up-close look at the work of Cork's emergency services. The interactive event allowed students to explore emergency vehicles and learn about the equipment used by both Gardaí and fire brigade personnel.
The initiative forms part of ongoing community engagement efforts by local emergency services to build positive relationships with young people across East Cork. Such programmes have proven valuable in fostering trust between youth and emergency services whilst providing educational entertainment during the summer holidays.
An Garda Síochána Cork shared their delight about the event:
"Cork North East Community engagement and Midleton Fire Brigade were delighted to attend Midleton CBS to show of some vehicles as well equipment and our dog unit to East Cork Parents and Friends as part as there summer program. As you can see from the pictures a great day was had and finished off with a ice cream van."
The East Cork Parents and Friends organisation regularly coordinates activities for children and young people with additional needs, making yesterday's visit particularly meaningful for participants who might not otherwise have the opportunity to interact with emergency services in such a relaxed setting.
True to form for any proper Cork summer gathering, the event concluded with a visit from an ice cream van, ensuring the day ended on a sweet note for all involved. The combination of educational engagement and treats proved a winning formula, with photos from the event showing beaming faces all around.
These community-focused initiatives continue to strengthen the bond between Cork's emergency services and the communities they serve, proving that sometimes the best policing happens not on the streets, but in the schoolyard with an ice cream in hand.
