Garda Warning Over Unauthorised Junior Cert Party Planned for Crosshaven

An Garda Síochána is strongly urging parents not to allow their children to attend an alleged large, unofficial Junior Cert party planned for Fennells Bay, Crosshaven this Friday evening, 12 June.

The event, organised on social media, is not an authorised event and will have no adult or medical supervision present. Gardaí say it is expected to attract a large number of young people aged between 14 and 18, and note that it is highly likely that alcohol and drugs will be present.

Gardaí in Crosshaven and Carrigaline have warned that there have been serious assaults and medical incidents involving intoxicated teenagers at similar events in the past.

Kevin Joyce, Operational Duty Sergeant, Passage West, said:

"While it is difficult and they may want their children to celebrate and relax after the stress of the last number of months, this is not the venue. Access and egress from the venue is dangerous on normal occasions, but is much worse if intoxicated."

A heavy Garda presence will be deployed in Crosshaven throughout Friday evening, with strong Garda enforcement of any public order or intoxication incidents.
