An Garda Síochána's Community Policing Unit is offering free property marking on Patrick Street in Cork city today, Monday, 6 April 2026.
The event is running from 9am to 3pm at Patrick Street, next to Brown Thomas, and is open to anyone wishing to have personal items marked at no charge.
Property marking uses a specially designed machine to emboss items with small dots in the pattern of the owner's Eircode, making it significantly harder for criminals to sell on stolen goods. Bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters, e-mopeds, laptops, tools, and other personal items are all eligible, though only legally compliant vehicles will be engraved.
Anyone attending is asked to have their Eircode ready. The service is being provided by the Community Policing Unit, Anglesea Street District.
