Free Mental Health and Wellbeing Event Returns to Midleton Fair Green
Midleton Fair Green hosts free mental health event Sunday 24th August, 12-4pm with 30+ local organisations, entertainment & workshops.

- Cork County Council and HSE South West have announced the third annual 'Together at Fair Green' event, bringing over 30 local organisations together for a free community day focused on mental health and wellbeing on Sunday, 24th August.
The popular event returns to Fair Green in Midleton from 12pm to 4pm, offering a lively programme of entertainment, workshops, and activities designed to promote mental health awareness and community connection. Now in its third year, the initiative has become a key fixture in East Cork's calendar, providing vital resources and support in an accessible, family-friendly atmosphere.
The collaboration brings together Cork County Council, HSE South West, Connecting for Life, Midleton & Area Chamber of Commerce, Midleton Family Resource Centre, and SECAD to create what organisers describe as an open, supportive environment celebrating community spirit.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley:
"Cork County Council is proud to continue supporting this important event. 'Together at Fair Green' provides a meaningful space where people can connect, learn, and support one another. Promoting mental health and wellbeing in our communities is more important than ever, and events like this help open up the conversation in a positive and inclusive way."
The event represents a significant regional effort to address mental health stigma through community engagement. With over 30 local organisations participating, attendees will have access to a comprehensive range of mental health resources and information stands alongside the day's entertainment.
Declan Cronin, Head of Mental Health Services, HSE South West:
"It's truly inspiring to see Cork and Kerry's statutory, voluntary and community partners come together to make 'Together at Fair Green' such a welcoming space. By blending fun, creativity and open conversation, we're breaking down the stigma and ensuring everyone in East Cork knows where to turn for mental health support. This event is a testament to what we can achieve when we put community wellbeing first."
The event is jointly funded by the Connecting for Life Cork programme, which aims to address stigma and reduce suicides across the region. This funding ensures the event remains free and accessible to all community members.
Martin Ryan, HSE South West Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention:
"When you bring over 30 local services into one area, you harness the real power of community. 'Together at Fair Green' isn't just a day out, it's a living network of hope, recovery and practical supports. My hope is that everyone leaves knowing they're not alone, armed with both the information and the human connections that make all the difference."
Local business leaders have also thrown their support behind the initiative, recognising its broader impact on community wellbeing.
Adrianna Hegarty, President of Midleton and Area Chamber of Commerce:
"'Together at Fair Green' shines a light on the importance of looking after our mental health, both individually and as a community. It's an opportunity for people to come together, hear each other's stories, and explore the wide range of support and resources available. It's a day for connection, compassion, and celebration."
The success of the previous two years has created momentum for what organisers hope will become an annual tradition in East Cork. The mix of practical support services with entertainment creates an atmosphere where difficult conversations about mental health can happen naturally.
Niall O'Callaghan, Healthy Ireland Coordinator with Cork County Council:
"It's great to see the continued momentum behind 'Together at Fair Green.' This event reflects the power of local collaboration and shared purpose. We're proud to help bring together services and supports in one space where people can access what they need while enjoying a fun, inclusive day out."
The event runs from noon to 4pm on Sunday, 24th August at Fair Green, Midleton. Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. With live entertainment, workshops, activities, and information stands from over 30 local organisations, the day promises something for everyone in the community.
For those unable to attend, many of the participating organisations will have information available through their individual services throughout the year.
