Cork County Council and Bandon GAA are joining forces to offer free long-stay parking in the town, with 28 spaces opening at the GAA grounds from tomorrow, Wednesday 25th February.

The pilot scheme will see the spaces, including two designated accessible bays, available daily between 8:00am and 7:00pm. Clear roadside signage will be installed on key approach routes into Bandon to direct drivers, with pedestrian access from the car park linking directly to New Road, putting visitors within a short walk of the town centre.

The initiative forms part of the broader Bandon Parking Strategy, which also proposes new time-regulated byelaws across four town centre car parks. The aim is straightforward: by drawing long-stay parkers to the GAA grounds, more short-term spaces should free up closer to the town's shops and businesses.

A public consultation on the proposed byelaws is open until 15th April 2026, and submissions are welcome from members of the public.

Cork County Council and Bandon GAA said they look forward to progressing the strategy to support accessibility, mobility, and economic vitality in Bandon Town.
