Free Christmas Parking Announced Across Seven Cork County Towns

Cork County Council has unveiled free parking measures across seven towns to support local businesses during the festive season, with most locations offering free parking from 1st December through to 4th January.

The initiative will see parking charges lifted in Bandon, Kinsale, Fermoy, Mallow, Macroom, Cobh and Youghal, though normal time restrictions will remain in place across all locations.

Cork County Council announced the measures today to encourage residents to support local businesses this Christmas. The free parking period begins on 1st December, with most towns offering the initiative until 4th January 2025.

Bandon will provide free on-street parking and free car parks from 1st December to 4th January inclusive, with normal time restrictions continuing to apply.

Kinsale will offer the same arrangement, with all on-street parking and car parks free during the same period, though time limits remain in force.

In Fermoy, Council car parks will be free throughout the period, whilst on-street parking will only be free on Saturdays. The initiative runs from 1st December to 4th January.

Mallow will provide free parking both on-street and in car parks for the full period from 1st December to 4th January, with normal time restrictions continuing.

Macroom operates a slightly different system, offering the first two hours of on-street parking free, with charges applying thereafter. Council car parks in the town remain free of charge year-round. The two-hour free parking runs from 1st December to 31st December.

Both Cobh and Youghal will offer free parking from 1st December to 4th January inclusive, though normal time restrictions apply in both towns.

Cork County Council is encouraging residents to take advantage of the free parking to shop locally and support businesses across the county during the Christmas period.
