Frankly My Dear Returns to Cork Jazz Festival with Dazzling 'Puttin' on the Ritz' Show

Helen O'Dwyer's popular theatrical jazz spectacular is back for the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2025, bringing vintage glamour and modern sass to the Metropole Hotel on Sunday, 26 October at 3.30pm in a family-friendly afternoon performance.

The show, titled 'Puttin' on the Ritz', promises a fast-paced blend of Broadway classics and contemporary pop reimagined with jazz flair. O'Dwyer, accompanied by her troupe of dancers, will perform crowd favourites including Mack the Knife, All That Jazz, Sway and Quando Quando, alongside jazzy versions of chart hits like Flowers, Creep and All About That Bass.

The production features three distinct acts, each with its own visual identity. Part one opens with Broadway-style tuxedos and high-energy choreography, followed by a red and black flapper-themed second act that merges vintage aesthetics with modern pop. The finale transforms into a showgirl spectacular complete with long tassels, feather headdresses and dramatic fans that extend into the audience.

Multiple costume changes keep the visual spectacle fresh throughout, with O'Dwyer transitioning from tux-style suits to flapper dresses and white-tasselled showgirl outfits. The show concludes with audience participation during rousing renditions of New York New York and Can't Take My Eyes Off You.

O'Dwyer has recently performed at venues including The Royal Theatre in Waterford, The Limetree in Limerick and Lark Theatre in Dublin. Her festive Frankly My Dear Christmas EP continues to raise funds for Cliona's Foundation, which supports Irish families with critically ill children.

The daytime performance makes the show accessible for families, with last year's event attracting many parents with children. The Metropole Hotel typically does not charge a cover fee for Jazz Festival events in the ballroom, though this should be confirmed with the venue.
