Four Dead on Irish Roads Over the Weekend as RSA Urges All Road Users to Take Care

The Road Safety Authority has expressed deep sadness following a series of fatal collisions across the Republic of Ireland over the weekend, which claimed the lives of four people.

The RSA says the tragedies serve as a stark reminder that the risk of serious and fatal collisions remains ever-present for all road users. The deaths come against the backdrop of a difficult 2025, which saw an increase in the number of fatalities on Irish roads compared to previous years.

The Authority has extended its sincere condolences to the families, friends and communities affected by the devastating incidents.

Michael Rowland, Director of Research, Standards, and Assurance for the RSA:

"Any loss of life on our roads is one too many. We are deeply saddened to learn of the deaths, and our thoughts are with their families and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time."

The RSA is urging all road users to exercise care and responsibility when travelling, particularly at weekends when traffic volumes tend to increase and journeys may involve longer distances or unfamiliar routes.

Among the key reminders issued by the RSA: always drive within speed limits, never travel under the influence of alcohol or drugs, avoid distractions including mobile phone use, wear a seatbelt at all times, and remain mindful of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and cyclists.
