Five-Day Closure Planned for R599 at Ballingurteen
R599 at Ballingurteen closes 28 Sept-3 Oct for cattle underpass works.
A section of the R599 at Ballingurteen will close for five days from 28 September, as Cork County Council carries out works to install a cattle underpass.
The closure applies to the R599-83, the stretch between Ballingurteen village and Coolnacarthy Junction in the townland of Ballingurteen, Co. Cork. It will run continuously from 09:00 on Monday 28 September 2026 until 18:00 on Saturday 3 October 2026.
The council says the closure is needed to facilitate the installation of a cattle underpass.
A signed diversion will be in place for the duration of the works. Traffic should travel north from Coolnacarthy Junction on the L4635 to Tots Pub Junction, then turn onto the L4641 back to Ballingurteen village. The same route applies in reverse for traffic travelling the other way. No further detail on additional journey times or local access arrangements has been given.
