Fire Risk Identified in Thousands of Televisions Sold in Ireland

Thousands of Toshiba, Technika, Walker and NordMende TVs recalled in Ireland. Unplug immediately if affected.

Fire Risk Identified in Thousands of Televisions Sold in Ireland

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued product safety notices for several television brands, warning consumers of a potential fire risk linked to a faulty mains plug fuse.

Two separate notices, both published on 27 May 2026, cover NordMende televisions and a range of Toshiba, Technika, and Walker televisions sold across the Republic of Ireland.

The Issue

The safety concern relates to the mains plug fuse and not the television unit itself. The fuse inside the supplied UK power plug may not operate correctly. If an electrical fault occurs, the fuse may fail to disconnect the power supply, allowing electricity to continue flowing into the television, which could lead to overheating or fire.

Affected Products

There are approximately 189 affected NordMende units in the Republic of Ireland. The batch/serial number can be found on the back of the product.
