Féile Fearann Rí Returns to Celebrate Traditional and Folk Music in Cork
Féile Fearann Rí returns from 9th-12th April, featuring legendary John Spillane, free workshops, sessions & more!
Féile Fearann Rí, a much-anticipated festival celebrating traditional and folk music, is set to return for its third year from Wednesday, 9th April to Saturday, 12th April. The festival will bring together musicians of all ages, from local schools to seasoned traditional artists, in a vibrant showcase of Ireland’s rich musical heritage.
Headlining this year’s event is legendary Cork singer-songwriter John Spillane, who will perform at the festival’s flagship Gala Concert on Thursday, 10th April at the Church of the Resurrection. The festival will also feature an exciting mix of workshops, rehearsals, concerts, recitals, sessions, and storytelling across key venues in the northside of Cork City.
The event is proudly supported by Creative Tradition, Music Generation Cork City, the Arts Council, Cork City Council, and Musical Neighbourhoods.
Festival Highlights
- Festival Launch – Wednesday, 9th April, 7pm | The Kabin Studio
- An evening of traditional music, song, and storytelling with The Gab. This free event is open to all, but booking is required due to limited capacity.
- Gala Concert – Thursday, 10th April | Church of the Resurrection
- John Spillane will headline this spectacular evening, joined by talented traditional musicians from across Cork’s northside. Tickets cost €5 and are available from Scoil Aiséirí Chríost, Scoil Íosagáin, and online via Eventbrite (link available at www.creativetradition.ie/feile).
- Community Sessions, Recitals & Workshops – 11th & 12th April | Hollyhill Library & Maureen’s Pub
- These free, open traditional music sessions and workshops offer a space for musicians of all ages and abilities to learn, collaborate, and enjoy live music. Booking may be required for some events.
- John Spillane in Concert – Saturday, 12th April | Hollyhill Library
- An intimate concert in-the-round featuring John Spillane. Free to attend, but due to limited seating, pre-booking is required.
