Fatal Road Traffic Incident, R639, Kilworth: Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident on the R639 at Ballinrush, Kilworth, Co. Cork yesterday, Monday 23rd March 2026.

The single vehicle incident occurred shortly after 11:15am. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where a male driver aged in his 70s was pronounced deceased.

The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to take place at Cork University Hospital. A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who were travelling on the R639 near Ballinrush, Kilworth between 10:50am and 11:20am on Monday 23rd March 2026, and who have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
