Fatal Road Traffic Incident - Castletownroche
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road collision in Castletownroche, Co Cork this afternoon. Road closed, expected to reopen by 6pm.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Castletownroche, Co Cork, on Monday 6th April 2026.
The collision occurred at approximately 12:50pm and involved a single car. The male driver, aged in his 50s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post mortem will take place.
Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently carrying out a technical examination of the scene. The road remains closed and is expected to reopen fully by 6pm this evening.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Road users who were travelling in the area between 12:30pm and 1:00pm and may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
