Fatal Collision on N25 at Carrigtwohill Claims Life of Cyclist
Cyclist dies in collision with van on N25 at Carrigtwohill this evening. Road closed overnight for investigation. Gardaí appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage.

A male cyclist in his 60s has died following a serious road traffic collision on the N25 at Carrigtwohill this evening, with Gardaí launching a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
The collision, which occurred on the eastbound carriageway at approximately 5pm on Wednesday, involved a van and the pedal cyclist. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following reports of the collision, but the cyclist was pronounced deceased at the location.
The victim's body has been removed to the mortuary at University Cork Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The male driver of the van, also aged in his 60s, received treatment at the scene.
The N25 is currently closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and will remain closed overnight. The examination of the scene will take place in the morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 4.30pm and 5pm today are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
