Fatal Collision in Glanmire: Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses

A woman in her 60s has died following a single vehicle collision in the Dunkettle Ballinglanna area of Glanmire this afternoon, with Gardaí now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 1:50pm today, Monday 25th August, on what would have been a busy afternoon for the area. Emergency services attended the scene, but the driver was sadly pronounced deceased at the location.

The road remains closed this evening as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes whilst the investigation continues.

Gardaí at Mayfield Station are particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling through the Dunkettle Ballinglanna area between 1:30pm and 2:10pm today. Officers are especially interested in obtaining dash cam footage from drivers who passed through the area during this time window.

The single vehicle nature of the collision means that any information from passing motorists could prove crucial in establishing the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. Even those who may not have witnessed the collision directly but were in the vicinity are encouraged to check their dash cam recordings.

Members of the public with any information are asked to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021 4558510 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111. Alternatively, information can be provided at any Garda Station.
