Fairy Magic Comes to Charles Fort This Summer as Royal Planning Application Gets Green Light
Charles Fort Cork welcomes fairy royalty this summer! Free trail for kids under 12, daily 10am-5pm from 14 June-31 August. No booking needed at this magical fortress.

The Office of Public Works has announced that Charles Fort Military Fortress in Cork will host an enchanting new fairy door trail this summer, running from Saturday 14 June through Sunday 31 August.
The historic fortress has officially approved a rather unusual planning application - the King and Queen of Fairyland have been granted permission to establish a temporary summer residence within the 17th-century fortifications. Visitors can explore the magical trail daily from 10am to 5pm, with children under 12 enjoying free admission when accompanied by an adult.
The fairy door trail promises to transform the military stronghold into a whimsical adventure destination, offering families a unique way to experience one of Cork's most significant heritage sites. The star-shaped fort, which has guarded Kinsale Harbour for centuries and witnessed fierce battles throughout Irish history, will now play host to a decidedly more peaceful invasion.
Parents will appreciate that no advance booking is required for this magical experience, making it an ideal spontaneous family outing during the summer holidays. Normal adult admission rates will apply, whilst the young fairy-seekers can explore free of charge.
The trail adds another family-friendly dimension to Charles Fort, which already attracts visitors with its spectacular coastal views, fascinating military history, and well-preserved fortifications. The juxtaposition of ancient military architecture and fairy tale magic is sure to create memorable experiences for Cork families and tourists alike.
