Fair Street water upgrade reaches major milestone as Mallow project steams ahead
Over two thirds of pipe installation works now complete.

Major water infrastructure works in Mallow have passed the two-thirds completion mark, with almost 900 metres of new pipeline already installed along Fair Street as part of a comprehensive network upgrade designed to future-proof the town's water supply.
The ambitious project, which will see over one kilometre of new water mains installed by late October, aims to eliminate the frequent pipe bursts that have plagued the area whilst preparing Mallow's infrastructure for anticipated residential and commercial growth.
With the two initial phases of road closures now complete, the remaining works will continue under traffic management arrangements using flagmen rather than full road closures, offering some relief to motorists and local businesses who have navigated the disruptions with characteristic North Cork patience.
Jack Cronin, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said:
"We are pleased to have made such significant progress in the pipelaying installation works and appreciate the patience of the community in Mallow as we carry out these essential works. This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable and sustainable high-quality water services."
The infrastructure investment represents more than just pipe replacement. The enhanced water network will support planned residential developments across the wider Mallow area, strengthening the town's position as a key growth centre in North Cork while ensuring existing homes and businesses enjoy more reliable water services.
Ward and Burke Construction Ltd are delivering the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with the project timeline remaining on track for completion before the end of October.
