ESB Networks Mobilises Crews as Storm Amy Brings Damaging Winds to Ireland
Stay clear of fallen wires, report damage: 1800 372 999.

Storm Amy is set to batter Ireland with extremely strong and gusty winds this afternoon, prompting ESB Networks to mobilise crews across the country as damage to electricity infrastructure is anticipated.
Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange wind warning for six counties from 2pm until 10pm today, Friday, 3 October 2025, with a nationwide Status Yellow wind warning also in effect until this evening. The orange warning areas are expected to see the most significant impact on the power network.
ESB Networks crews and partner contractors have been making preparations in advance of the high winds, with teams now mobilised and ready to respond. The utility company is continuously monitoring weather forecasts and real-time events on the electricity network, with crews set to deploy to restore supply as soon as it is safe to do so.
Following the storm, ESB Networks crews will assess the full extent of damage caused by Storm Amy, making the network safe and restoring electricity supply, including switching customers back remotely where possible. Power estimated restoration times will be updated on www.PowerCheck.ie once the network has been assessed.
Customers are being asked to make precautionary preparations in case they lose electricity supply if their area is affected by Storm Amy. ESB Networks recommends having torches and spare batteries available, ensuring phones are fully charged, and considering other essential items that may be needed during a power outage.
ESB Networks has issued an important public safety message: if you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never touch or approach them as they are live and extremely dangerous. Any damage to electricity infrastructure should be reported immediately by calling 1800 372 999.
